Desmond has extensive experience in public affairs and community engagement, spending the first half of his career in California politics and grassroots advocacy. He began working on political campaigns as a field director for the California Republican Party and then led a public affairs office in Central California focused on agricultural, water, and oil and gas issues. Most recently, he led community relations across Competitive Power Ventures’ renewables portfolio. These diverse experiences, spanning 15 states across the U.S., equip him with a flexible blueprint for translating campaign-style tactics into successful community engagement strategies for solar, wind, battery storage, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
He holds a Master of Public Affairs in Energy Policy & Infrastructure from the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. Based in Los Angeles, California, he may be found kayaking California's waterways or attending local grassroots events in LA County.
