I3 Detects Possible Bump in Early-Stage Cleantech Investments

Written by Lowell F. | 3/17/13 7:53 PM

Courtesy of its email newsletter, here's some potentially promising news from Cleantech Group's I3, "the sector's leading market intelligence product providing insight into innovation."

Since January 1st, 2013, i3 has recorded a bump in early stage investments. Out of the 825 Venture Capital rounds we tracked in 2012, approximately 55% were considered early stage, meaning that they were either seed, series A or series B funding. Thus far in 2013, this number is almost 62%.

This increase could mean lower investment numbers, as early stage deals typically involve smaller sums than later ones. It could also be that many younger technologies are currently in the pipeline, and that we could see a few stars rising this year. Discover these companies in i3.
