Oil Industry Spends Taxpayer Money to Convince Lawmakers to Keep Up the Flow of Taxpayer Money

1 min. read

You've got to love it when oil companies spend our tax money to defend their welfare bum status.

An oil-and-gas lobby group is launching a TV advertising campaign aimed at convincing lawmakers to keep their hands off tax incentives awarded to the industry.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) announced Wednesday it would run the cable and broadcast spots inside the Beltway. It didn’t specify how much it was spending on the effort.

Note that the oil and gas companies receive billions of dollars per year in tax breaks - yes, that's our money - even as they rake in enormous profits.  Also note that they're now spending some of our money to keep more of our money flowing into their coffers. A pretty sweet deal, wouldn't you say?
